CommonWealth One’s Credit Union Members Support H.R. 3380
Alexandria, Va. – September 15, 2009 – On August 28, 2009, CommonWealth One Federal Credit
Union (“CommonWealth One”) branches had more than 225 members show their support for H.R. 3380,
the Promoting Lending to America’s Small Business Act.
H.R. 3380 was introduced by Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-PA) and Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA) and would raise the
cap on member business lending from 12.25% to 25% of assets. H.R. 3380 would also raise the
minimum threshold for a loan to be considered a “member business loan” and exempt loans made to nonprofit religious organizations as well as in qualified underserved areas.
CommonWealth One held a Legislative Awareness Day at each branch location to inform members about
the positive impact the passage of H.R. 3380 could have on credit unions’ small business lending and the
economy. CommonWealth One staff utilized the mycuisme.com site to help members with writing letters
to their Congressional Representatives and offered to cover the cost of mailing the letters.
“It’s great to see members come out and show their support for the credit union
movement and exercise their roles as a member-owner,” says John R. Blair, President
and CEO of CommonWealth One.
CommonWealth One’s Headquarters is located at 4875 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, Virginia.
CommonWealth One also operates branches in Harrisonburg, Front Royal and Washington, D.C. Metro
