CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union raised more than $2,100 to support breast cancer treatment in the 18th Race to Beat Breast Cancer 5K Race/Walk on Saturday, Oct. 31.

The annual event raises funds for The RMH Foundation’s Hope Cancer Research Fund at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Due to concerns about coronavirus, this year the event went virtual.

Saturday morning, dozens of people walked or ran while on Zoom on their mobile devices, creating a digital shared experience. The two-hour event raised $1,156 in registrations and CommonWealth One contributed $1,000 as an event sponsor.

Several other organizations also participated, helping Sentara RMH Medical Center raise thousands to support women facing breast cancer. A lot of the funds raised will go to provide mammograms for those who may not be able to afford the cost.

CommonWealth One would like to thank its members who participated in this unique event and helped bring the community together, raise money for breast cancer treatment and have fun at a safe distance!
