CommonWealth One celebrated its 80th anniversary last year!
It's a milestone we're incredibly proud of, and we're thrilled to have you with us as we continue this exciting journey!
Our story started in 1944 with just a few people and just a few dollars. At the time, we were called the Army Air Force Annex #1 Federal Credit Union at Gravelly Point in Washington, D.C.
There's been so much change across the decades as we grew to more than 38,000 members and $550 million in assets, with branches in Harrisonburg and Alexandria, Virginia, and in Washington, D.C., We have grown and adapted to different ways people want to manage money, and we've created new financial solutions to meet current needs. We're one of the most tech-savvy 80 year olds around!
But one thing has not changed! CommonWealth One was, is and always will be committed to our members and helping you reach your financial goals, no matter what age or stage you're in. We are here "For You, For Life".
Unlike a traditional bank, CommonWealth One is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned and controlled by its members. We answer to you, not shareholders. And any profits we make are returned to you as better rates on loans and deposits, and lower (or no) fees compared to other financial institutions.
We are truly people helping people.
In fact, we’d like to invite you to our Annual Meeting at 5:30 p.m. this Thursday, May 22. Credit union leadership will report on CommonWealth One’s 2024 performance, review highlights from the past year and share important information about our plans for the future. All members are welcome to attend, but registration is required.
We’d love to have you join us for this event!
Thanks for being a member of CommonWealth One!
