Education is something that CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union truly values. This summer, the credit union and its members embraced the credit union movement “people helping people” to ensure that students and teachers started off the 2021-22 school year on the right foot.

CommonWealth One donated more than $1,000 in school supplies to teachers and students in need. Supplies included backpacks, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, scissors, notebooks, composition books, notebook paper and more.

“We have a long legacy of helping families in our community and 2021, is no different,” said Frank Wasson, President/CEO.  “We are thankful to our members for their support.  Through their donations, we can help local families in need offset some of their budget challenges.”

This is just one of the ways that CommonWealth One supports education. Over the summer, CommonWealth One awarded $12,000 in scholarships to students in Harrisonburg and Alexandria, Virginia, to put toward their education. In addition, all CommonWealth One members, including youth members, have access to a wide variety of educational tools, including free webinars, the Banzai financial education platform and other resources.

CommonWealth One will continue to give back throughout the fall and winter, too, with plans for a winter coat drive and more. Be sure to check cofcu.org for opportunities to team up with us as we continue our mission of “people helping people.”
